The event was held at Soho Beach House. The two-hour event saw Norman showcasing excepts from his acclaimed Docu-Films “Ghana: Africa’s Exciting Entry Point?” (2022) And “Nigeria: Can Its Youth Shape Its Future?” (2023).
He then led a thorough discussion with the audience about the key themes in the Docu-Films, the power of the African Diaspora, the future of the African continent, the evolution of the creative industries globally and more. Norman also gave rare insights and reflections into his journey and career progression in the creative industries, him being an independent Filmmaker, Media Broadcaster and Published Fashion Model.
Notably, Norman’s Docu-Film on Ghana was positively supported by the Global Entertainment Director for Vogue, Deborah Ababio, who was a panellist at its premiere screening event in June 2022 at White City Soho House (London). It also went onto air on British Television, screen at Cambridge University and was shortlisted a Semi Finalist at the Paris International Short Festival (IMDB qualified) in April 2023. Norman’s Docu-Film on Nigeria notably gave Norman his first international screening event at Soho House Paris (France) in November 2023. This Docu-Film also received wide ranging support from leading media hubs in Africa including Channels TV, Pulse Nigeria, GHOne TV and Metro TV. More widely, Norman’s works have led him to be recognised by GQ South Africa as “Africa’s Modern Storyteller”, for his pioneering works in film/media in Africa by helping to positively (re)shape the perception of the continent globally - something which Norman feels is necessary as mainstream western media has not always portrayed Africa in the most favourable light.
Norman’s event in Miami was met with extremely positive reviews by attendees! Norman now intends to use this momentum to further propel his mission of spreading his artistic works globally: namely, using his films as a vehicle to spark important conversations about the future of Africa, unite the diaspora community with those on the continent, and hopefully be a catalyst for true change and progression. Norman truly believes the key to unlocking the potential of Africa lies in galvanising its youth and their abilities. Having now formed the bridge to America and observed a clear demand for his offerings, Norman now truly aims to expand his message and films across the African-American community in the States (as he intends to spend much more time in America moving forward), targeting cities such as Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Houston.
Norman also explained to us that he is extremely pleased with his trajectory as a filmmaker and sees no limit to how far he can take things! Moving forward, he now wishes to secure the attention and financial backing of prominent media hubs and production companies to help scale the quality of his films and events globally, especially as he gears up for his third Docu-Film, which he is very excited about as he claims it will demonstrate his growth and evolution as a filmmaker/storyteller. Norman also expressed that he is happy that his events and portfolio of works have been so well received globally (UK, France and now Florida).
Special thanks are given to the following: DJ Reckyy (founder of Playback) - Head of Documentary Post Production for both Docu-films, So Fraiche Media (who produced the Docu-Film on Ghana), The Milade Films (who produced the Docu-Film on Nigeria), and Jendaya (the official partners of the Nigeria Docu-Film). Neither Docu-Film has been publicly released as yet.
