Reality TV series to return in 2017

10 years after Katung Aduwak won the first edition of "Big Brother Nigeria" on June 4, 2006, the reality series is set to return for a 2nd season.

Africa Magic has announced the return of the reality series which was first introduced to Nigerians in 2006, and ended with Katung Aduwak as the winner after 13 weeks in the house.

Big Brother Nigeria is a reality TV show based on the Big Brother TV series in which 12 contestants live in an isolated house and compete for a prize worth $100000 .

The first season of the reality series was a collaboration between Nigerian and South African production teams, and  aired on DStv from March 5 to June 4, 2006.

The other contestants included Gideon Okeke ("Tinsel," "Money Drop," "Gidi Blues"), Ebuka Uchendu ("Rubbing Minds"), Helen, Joseph, Frank, Maureen, Joan, Sandy, Ify, Yinka, Chinedu among others.

In 2015, M-Net announced the cancellation of Big Brother Africa show. While the regional Big Brother shows including Big Brother Angola and Big Brother Mzansi continued to air, the continental version of the show was put on hold.

M-Net CEO, Yolisa Phahle, revealed in May 2016, that there are no plans for the popular Big Brother Africa show this year (2016).

The last edition which was in 2014, came to an end when Tanzanian housemate, undefined to become the number one Hotshot and winner of Big Brother Africa nine.
