Anikulapo's review: A take on Kunle Afolayan's marvelous feat [Pulse Contributor's Opinion]

The main theme of the movie has been to never hand over your source of wealth to a man but this applies to all forms of mankind, not just the gender.

Film they say is a reflection of reality. This couldn’t be closer to the truth than in Anikulapo.

It is quite fast paced with none of the scenes really being allowed to breathe and I believe that is what keeps you glued to it for so long. A lot happen in quick succession such that you are constantly shocked with how things play out. The wonderful actors were really able to bring the story to life.

Another main theme in this movie has been love. Love is a really dangerous emotion. It blinds, it deceives, and it causes an intentional ignorance. It’s a beautiful emotion that when left unchecked or at its raw form can be a source of great good or of great evil. Love and hate are two very similar emotions.

They are both characterized by extreme passion which is why they can switch places in the blink of an eye.

History is something that is bound to repeat itself if you don't learn from it and it sort of shows in the movie. All I can say is what he did was not surprising. I'm not trying to give excuses for anyone, I'm just saying.

He has been very promiscuous from the beginning, she has been maltreated as the barren queen since the beginning too. Those issues weren't resolved; they just got distracted for a while so they still had to face it again.

People actually do this a lot. Putting an issue aside to face another present or more pressing matter is right but it does not magically solve the problem set aside. It still has to be resolved or else it’ll still come back to bite you in the back.

Saro and Arolake were lovers, lovers that used each other as a way to escape from their realities that they did not like. They were lucky enough to escape it temporarily but those problems still crept back up.

Kunle Afolayan is someone I personally look up to in this industry. He has done a lot over the years to become one of the greatest there is and this movie is evidence of such. Overall I give the movie an 8 out of 10.

From the skillful cast to the beautiful scenery, the movie is one that should serve as a lesson to all that just because one loves doesn’t mean one must be loved back. It is a dangerous world and human beings are naturally selfish so try not to put all your cards down for anyone.

One last thing though. Not everyone deserves a second chance at life, not everyone even wants a second chance at life, and death is inevitable.

My question now is, was he pulling them from heaven or hell? Or were their souls still floating about? Is there a time limit before it would not be able to work again? Like can it be used on bones or even fossils? Mr Kunle sir, we need answers.
