Residents and motorists were left stranded for hours Wednesday morning when a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from a gas station leaked at Inchaban in Takoradi.

The main road is endangered as the whole area is filled with the gas. All vehicles in from Accra to Takoradi has been stopped to avoid danger with a heavy police presence.

A tanker was said to be offloading gas at the station when the leakage occurred.

As a precaution, the station was evacuated and the road was blocked to prevent casualties in case there was an explosion. This resulted in a heavy vehicular traffic on the Inchaban road for about four hours as traffic was at a standstill.

No vehicle was able to leave or enter Takoradi, the Western regional capital between 5:30 am and 10am.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were quick to respond to the situation.
