Zamfara lawmaker wants to contest for President in 2019

The former Governor of Zamfara State said he's capable to run for president.

While speaking in Abuja during an interactive session with journalists, he said he could definitely contest for President Buhari's seat if he's not interested when the time comes.

The former Governor of Zamfara State said he's capable to run for president because he's not in politics for selfish reasons.

In response to the vote of confidence passed on the president during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he said, "Yes I seconded the motion: I will support the president if he decides to run in 2019. I will not contest against him, but if he does not contest and I decide to come out, nobody will condemn me. That's my personal decision.

"I am in politics not for personal aggrandisement but for the sheer glory. I am in politics to serve, and I have not failed to do that."

President Buhari has refused to comment on whether he'll seek reelection for the 2018 general elections, but he's expected to do so after gaining massive support from the party's leadership.
