'I will never abandon any project,' Governor says

While commissioning the completed Abuluoma-Woji road with bridge in Port Harcourt yesterday, Nyesom Wike, made it known that his administration is not one for non completion of commenced projects.

While commissioning the completed Abuluoma-Woji road with bridge in Port Harcourt yesterday, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has made it known that his administration is not one for non completion of commenced projects.

“I will never do any project that will be abandoned. No part of the state will be neglected in the infrastructure renewal programme of my administration,” Wike said.

Wike who has previously commissioned the Obonomma-Abonnema link road with Bridge and Eagle Island-Iloabuchi link road, urged communities to always provide a peaceful environment for contractors to complete ongoing projects, also revealed that no local government area in Rivers state would be neglected in the renewal programme of his administration.

Wike further appealed to his people to support his administration for the betterment of all and sundry. In his words, “You can see the level of development in the state. That is why you should always give your mandate to those who will use it to implement projects for all the people irrespective of political affiliations.

“We have shown that it doesn’t matter what political parties you belong to. Once a government is formed, it works for everyone .”

Furthermore, the Governor promised that aside  the Abuluoma-Woji road with bridge, his administration would commence a project to construct a Fly-Over on Peter Odili road come 2016.

The Rivers State commissioner for works,   Kelvin Wachukwu, said  the former administration initially awarded the contract for the sum of three billion, five million naira (N3.5bn), however, the cost increased to thirteen billion, six million naira (N13.6bn).

The Caretaker Committee chairman of Port Harcourt local government area, Mr Samuel Ejekwu, lauded the Governor for completing the road, stating that it will ease the traffic jam usually on Aba-Port Harcourt road, Dr Peter Odili road and also enhance free flow of traffic in Obio-Akpor, Port Harcourt and Eleme.
