Supreme Court reserves judgement on PDP leadership tussle

Supreme Court’s judgement on the matter will lay to rest the leadership tussle in the PDP.

PDP factional Leaders, Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Modu Sheriff

Presiding judge and chief justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen said the date for judgement on the matter would be communicated to both factions of the party.

Ali Modu Sheriff and Ahmed Markafi have been engaged in a long battle for the chairmanship position of the PDP.

The court had earlier struck out an appeal by Sheriff to prevent it from hearing Markafi’s appeal on the matter on Monday, May 22, 2017.

The Appeal Court had declared Sheriff the authentic chairman of the PDP on Friday, February 17, 2017.

Markafi was granted leave to appeal the lower court’s ruling at the Supreme Court.

Supreme Court’s judgement on the matter will lay to rest the leadership crisis in the PDP.
