‘APC can’t stop defections,’ LP says

The LP also urged the APC to stop making dictatorial and anti-democratic pronouncements while pretending to be democratic.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed

The Labour Party (LP) has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) doesn’t have the authority to stop defectors from coming into its party.

The comments were made on Thursday, April 23, 2015, via a statement issued by LP National Secretary, Kayode Ajulo.

The statement reads:

“The statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Lai Mohammed, shows that the party is bereft of knowledge of rules and norms guiding party membership.”

“For the avoidance of doubt, no registered party has the power to shut its doors against Nigerians, especially a registered party. And in any case, it is rather preposterous that an APC that was cobbled out of a motley array of parties, including defectors from PDP is now the one pretending as if it were different from PDP.”

“Instead of engaging in distractions and frivolities, the APC should pay more attention to how to fulfill its campaign promises.”

APC National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed had earlier told aspiring defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that they were no longer welcome into the APC.

The APC has witnessed a mass influx into its party following its resounding victory in the recently held general elections.
