The most notable event in Jega’s tenure was Nigeria’s widely anticipated and successfully conducted 2015 general elections.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Attahiru Jega is set to leave the office today, June 30, 2015.

The elections caused tensions to rise all over the world as many expected the country to be torn apart by violence. The reverse was the case however as the elections were conducted relatively peacefully with Jega at the helm of affairs.

The INEC Chairman has been widely praised for the successful elections and for his composure when faced with difficult circumstances surrounding the polls.
