Governor had more votes than number of accredited voters – INEC

The report was received as evidence by the state election petition tribunal along with other documents.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State

A report tendered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Delta State has shown that the number of accredited voters for the state governorship elections was lower than the results announced.

Ifeanyi Okowa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared as the winner of the elections with 724,680 votes.

However, according to Premium Times, the evidence tendered showed that only 715,393 voters were accredited.

The tribunal was told that “the card readers recorded no sustained failure during the governorship election in delta state and accredited numbers of voters as at April 29th was 709,000 and at the expiration of the shutting down of data upload, the final tally was 715,393.”
