The Benue House of Assembly on Friday, June 5, elected, Terkimbi Ikyange, as the Speaker of the eight Assembly.
APC lawmaker defeats PDP counterpart to become Assembly Speaker
The 30-member house consists of 14 APC lawmakers, 15 PDP members, and one Labour Party member.

Ikyange of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 17 votes to defeat, Terkaa Ucha of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 13 votes.
Also, James Ejembi of the PDP emerged Deputy Speaker with 16 votes against Joseph Ojobo of the same party, who polled 14 votes.
The principal officers promised to serve with utmost humility and with the fear of God.
