New book promises to expose ex president

Bolaji Abdullahi's book has promised to go hard on former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The new book which is set to hit bookstores in October 2017 is titled ‘On a Platter of Gold’.

‘On a Platter of Gold’ is authored by former Minister of Sports and Social Development, Bolaji Abdullahi and plays on the overriding theme that the presidency dropped on Jonathan's laps on a platter.

Mallam Abdullahi served as Minister in the Jonathan cabinet until he was fired on March 5, 2014, for refusing to publicly identify with the PDP after his benefactor, Bukola Saraki, sealed his defection to the APC.

Abdullahi currently serves as spokesperson of the governing APC.

The former Jonathan Minister says his new book is an exclusive account of the “making and the unmaking” of the former Nigerian leader.

Abdullahi added that his new book will relay all that happened behind the scenes in the months before Jonathan lost the 2015 presidential contest to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the author: “On a Platter of Gold is part history, part political thriller, which answers many of the often-asked questions about Jonathan’s incredible rise to the highest political office in the land and his unprecedented electoral defeat in 2015".

The book which has as its rider the following: ‘How Jonathan Won and Lost Nigeria’, is introduced this way:

“Was Goodluck Jonathan weak and clueless, as his traducers have claimed? Or – as his supporters have alleged – was he just a victim of vicious conspiracies by an entitled cabal that would stop at nothing to bring down this ‘intruder’ to power?

ALSO READ:

”From an unknown university teacher, Goodluck Jonathan rose to become President of Africa’s largest democracy, in less than a decade -most astonishingly, without winning a single vote in his name. In contesting the 2011 presidential election, he declared that growing up as the son of a fisherman in the creeks of Nigeria’s Niger Delta, he had no shoes. This message resonated with millions of Nigerians. “If I can make it, then you can as well,” he had declared. He went on to win with the highest majority vote ever recorded in the nation’s history.”

A former journalist himself, Abdullahi says he wrote the book because he believes “that journalists who find themselves in government owe it as a duty to the profession to tell a good story afterwards.”

The cover of ‘On a Platter of Gold’ will be launched next month with the book hitting bookstores immediately after.
