‘Ex-Governor used Akwa-Ibom people to collect loan,’ Ita Enang

The President’s adviser also accused the current Governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel, of using state funds to pay off the loans accrued by his Godfather (Akpabio).

Enang said Akpabio, who served as Governor of Akwa-Ibom from from 29 May 2007 to 29 May 2015, did nothing with the allocation he received from the Federal Government.

The President’s adviser also accused the current Governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel, of using state funds to pay off the loans accrued by his Godfather (Akpabio).

Enang said “If Akwa Ibom workers complain (that their salaries have not been paid), then something is wrong with governance. Something is wrong with the application of the funds. Something is wrong with the way you treat the people.”

He also accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors of blaming the Federal Government for their inability to pay salaries.

He said “The federal government does not owe salary to any of its parastatals or to any of its staffers. The federal government doesn’t pay local government or state government workers.

“The federal government uses its own money to pay its own workers, so if you get your own money and decide to spend it on okporoko (stockfish) and groundnuts, and then you deceive the people by saying it is the federal government.

“I think it is insulting for you to think that people do not think, and that they do not know that you have collected your money.”

Enang also challenged Governor Udom Emmanuel to tell Nigerians the debt profile of the state.

Meanwhile, Akpabio, who is currently a Senator, has urged Nigerians to consider voting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2019 presidential elections.
