Senator Dino Melaye

A mild drama ensued in the Senate Chamber on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, when Senator Dino Melaye addressed Senate President, Bukola Saraki as “Speaker”.

Melaye is said to have made the error when he rose to protest the illegal sack of workers of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The Senator’s mistake is said to have sent his colleagues into fits of laughter.

Melaye is a staunch supporter of Saraki and was one of those who backed his emergence as Senate President despite opposition from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
