'I will sack any of my ministers involved in corrupt practices,' president vows

Buhari claimed that he carefully selected his minister because he did not want any embarrassment in his government.

President Buhari has vowed to sack any prosecute any of his ministers found guilty of corrupt practices. The president made this pledge at yesterday's (December 30, 2015) presidential media chat, saying that he wouldn't tolerate corrupt officials in his government.

Buhari claimed that he carefully selected his minister because he did not want any embarrassment in his government. He also stressed that if any of them is found wanting along the line, he would not hesitate to sack the person

“I have been a democrat since April 2002. I don’t think I picked anyone that will embarrass my government. But if you have got any evidence against any of my ministers, I accept responsibility for the 36 ministers that I have.

“I don’t think I picked anyone that has a case in court on corruption; tell me one out of the 36. I know that I have never appointed anyone that is in court for corruption. I don’t think I would have deliberately made that kind of mistake.

“If anyone is caught, I will not only sack but I will ensure that the case is taken to court,” commented Mr President.

President Buhari also vowed that he would not repeat and mistake of the previous administration by letting corrupt government officials go unpunished. He also enjoined to Nigerians to join in his anti-corruption battle in order to cleanse the country and improve her international image.
