Senator advises Governors to pay salaries instead of sharing Christmas hampers

This is coming on the heels of reports in the media, alleging that Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state, plans to spend N50m on fireworks and Christmas decorations.

The Dean of the common sense academy, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has warned Governors not to send him Christmas hampers.

The Senator said they should use the money to pay staff salaries.

This is coming on the heels of reports in the media, alleging that Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state, plans to spend N50m on fireworks and Christmas decorations.

The Senator also extended the warning to government agencies saying “I serve notice to any govt agency. If you bring Christmas hampers to me when you have not paid workers salary I will stone you with it!”

He also said “I can't understand why any govt agency will give out Christmas hampers to elites when 2 million IDPs are starving in this very country!”

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce's short common sense videos, as he calls them, has generated various forms of discourse among Nigerians.

He was the Director General of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) from 1999 to 2003.
