‘If ex-governor comes to your polling booth, beat him up,’ Wike tells voters

Wike is said to have made the call during a campaign rally in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi and incumbent, Nyesom Wike

Wike is said to have made the call during a campaign rally in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, according to Daily Post.

“We know their plans. They have arranged how to swap original results on that day. They want to do it Amina Zakari. Tell them we have passed that stage. Is this how Nigeria wants to change?” the governor allegedly said.

“We heard Amaechi will be moving from polling booth to polling booth. Let him try it. I will show him that I am the Governor of Rivers State. I challenge him to move around. If he dares come to anybody’s polling booth and you see him, beat him thoroughly,” he added.

Amaechi had earlier said that he would celebrate the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) victory over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at a night club in Wike’s village.

The endless war of words between the two has given rise to fears that the elections might be violent.

Rivers has already recorded an upsurge in political violence which has seen more than 30 members of the APC losing their lives.
