It was reported that the decision was taken at the Ondo State Governor's lodge in Abuja today, February 23, by a large number of the party's stakeholders and authority.
The meeting comprised of the PDP Governors’ Forum, the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), the National Assembly Caucus, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and state caucuses.
According to the Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, who spoke to newsmen after the meeting, Sheriff was asked to lead the party for the next three months.
After the three months, he is expected to make preparations for the party's National Convention where new leaders of its National Working Committee will be elected.
Since the Sheriff, a former governor of Borno state, was announced as the party's National Chairman, several chieftain of the party, including its founding fathers had threatened to decamp unless he steps down.
