‘My certificates are with INEC’, Buhari says

Buhari stated this on Tuesday, January 27, in Abuja during his formal adoption as the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM).

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari has said that his academic credentials have been deposited with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Buhari stated this on Tuesday, January 27, in Abuja during his formal adoption as the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM).

The former Head of State also added that his certificates had been duly acknowledged by the Legal Department of INEC so he was surprised that people were still making an issue of it.

“Well I am not surprised. This is Nigeria. If people are serious about this issue, they ought to have listened to the Legal Adviser of INEC,” Buhari said.

“This is the first time, INEC by law has got those documents and they said they have got them. So, anybody who has any different view should go to court. I think they have gone to court. So, let them remain there,” he added.

An Abuja-based lawyer, Chike Okaforhas petitioned a Federal High Court in the state to disqualify Buhari from the February 14 elections due to false information given by the candidate in the affidavit he submitted to INEC in lieu of his credentials.
