'We buy human parts skulls, eyes, teeth, for N12K' - Islamic clerics

Three Islamic clerics have been arrested by the police in Ogun State and they confessed to buying human parts for a paltry N12,000.

Punch reports that the suspects who ran the syndicate, Adebayo Mubashiru, Rasheed Abass and Lateef Aremu were arrested in Abeokuta, the state capital and Owode-Egba area of the state following a tip-off.

Also arrested was one Kolawole Shodipo who was their middle-man in the illicit trade. They were paraded at the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Magbon, Abeokuta, by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu who said the suspects specialized in killing for ritual purposes.

CP Iliyasu said the four suspects belonged to two different ritual syndicates, adding that one of the syndicates, comprising Mudashiru and Abass, were arrested on Thursday by operatives of  FSARS.

CP Iliyasu said the two other suspects were sighted on a motorcycle with a suspicious bag by policemen who were on patrol, and they were stopped for a search which led to the discovery of fresh and dried human parts, dead lizards and charms.

The Police boss said operatives of the FSARS received information about them and trailed them to their hideout where they were arrested with the human skulls and bones.

While confessing during the parade, Mudashiru confessed that he and Abass paid N12,000  for the human parts though he denied being ritual killers, but said they were looking for how to get quick money.

“We bought all the human parts for N12,000. We are not ritual killers. We want to get quick money by using the parts.”

On his part, Aremu said he was a farmer and a herbalist and was not involved in ritual killings.

He said he had been in the business for almost 20 years, adding that the charms and other items found on them were meant to help people.

CP Iliyasu while reiterating the Command's resolve to weed out criminals in the state, said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
