Police arraign man for assault

The prosecutor  said the offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

Oluwatosin, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a charge of assault.

The Prosecutor, Insp  Caleb Leranmo, told the court that the accused  and others at large, committed the offence on Sunday  at about 8:30 a.m.  at Atikankan Area of  Ado-Ekiti.

He said that the accused and others at large assaulted one Tope Babalola by using a stone to hit him in several places on his forehead and caused him harm.

He asked the court for  an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

Oluwatosin, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge  and his counsel, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, urged the court to grant him bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like  sum.

Adegboye adjourned the case till  Oct. 2 for hearing.
