Vice President-elect, Yemi Osinbajo has said that the incoming government of President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari will encourage freedom of press.

Osinbajo gave the assurance on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 via his Twitter handle.

"Gen. Buhari's administration will encourage free press and its role in aggregating the people's views & presenting them lucidly to govt," he tweeted.

The VP-elect’s comment comes on the heels of reports that Buhari had barred Africa Independent Television (AIT) from covering his activities.

The action was believed to have been taken due to AIT’s participation in a hate campaign against Buhari while he was still in the contest for the Presidency.

The supposed ban has however been reversed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) even as AIT boss, Raymond Dokpesi stated that Buhari doesn’t have the authority to give such an order.
