Nigeria will overcome economic challenges, says Sen. Wamakko

Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto Central), has expressed optimism that Nigeria will soon overcome all her current economic challenges.

Wamakko told newsmen in Sokoto on Thursday that the country’s recovery from economic recession required the collective resolve of all citizens.

He said that Nigeria had passed through similar straits in the past and came through, though he did not give instances.

“Nigeria has experienced such obnoxious travails in the past; the nation bitterly passed through difficulties and successfully overcame them.

“Even now, I am truly confident that these unfortunate difficulties will soon be part of our history by the special grace of the Almighty Allah, they will soon be gone and gone for good,” he said.

The lawmaker and former governor of Sokoto acknowledged that Nigeria’s current challenges had imposed hardship on Nigerians in all sectors of the economy and needed a quick fix.

“I am also confident that, we will overcome all the challenges we are facing as a nation, this country belongs to all of us whether we are journalists, politicians, teachers, governors, president or of any other status.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us and we should work together to ensure the stability, progress and unity of the country at all times.

“Nobody will do it for us, but only us as Nigerians can collectively salvage the country.  As Nigerians, we should be more patriotic in all that we do by putting the interest of Nigeria first.

“We should all buckle up and be committed to taking Nigeria out of the doldrums. This is the only plausible panacea, rather than waiting for miracles, I strongly believe that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.” he said.
