CCT chairman ask Senators not to come for Senate President's trial

Prosecuting counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), also frowned at the Senators for adjourning their sitting to show solidarity for the Saraki at the trial.

Umar said this in response to a request made by counsel to Saraki,  Kanu Agabi (SAN), for the tribunal to skip it sittings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to allow the Senate President preside over the Senate's sessions.

The CCT chairman said  “The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is not on trial, the Senate should sit. The only thing is that the personality of the defendant who happened to be the Senate President. The Senate should continue to sit.”

Prosecuting counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), also frowned at the Senators for adjourning their sitting to show solidarity for the Saraki at the trial.

Jacobs said “The Senate is not on trial. The persons that is on trial is the defendant. The Senate should sit. It’s a disgrace to our nation to be saying that.”
