Emir of Gwandu urges parents to present children for immunisation

The Emir made the call during the commencement of the November round of polio immunisation in Birnin Kebbi.

Bashar made the call during the commencement of the November round of polio immunisation on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi.

The Emir of Gwandu commended the state Primary Health Care Development Agency for its support in the exercise by ensuring that parents presented their children for immunisation.

He also commended traditional, religious and community leaders for enlightening the public on the importance of immunisation.

Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary, state Ministry of Health, Dr Atiku Kende said that the state had recorded four years of being polio free.

Kende said that the resurgence of the virus in Borno informed the Kebbi state government’s decision to continue with immunisation against polio.

Also speaking, the Director, Public Health, Alhaji Umar Muhammad, commended the Emir, the Emirate Council,  journalists and other stakeholders for their support in interrupting polio in the state.

NAN reports that the Emir administered the polio vaccines to the children.
