How ex civil service boss allegedly defrauded FG of N190m

An EFCC witness, Ngunnan Kakwagh alleged that Oronsaye used secret bank accounts to siphon the money.

You will recall that the anti-graft agency charged the ex-Head of Service to court on Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

According to Punch ‘The committee was set up by the Federal Government to ensure the passage of the Anti-money Laundering Bill and Countering Financial Terrorism.’

She also said “The team analysed the documents provided by the bank. One of the accounts was named the Presidential Committee on Financial Action Task Force (current account) and the sole signatory is Mr. Stephen Oronsaye – the defendant.

“The means of identification was the biodata page of the passport of the defendant.”

“Further analysis of the statement of account (Access bank), we found out that the account was opened in 2012 with the request from the defendant, to Access bank, requesting the account  to be opened, which he was the sole signatory as he chairman of the presidential committee on FATF.

“The (investigative) team found out that the account had been funded by three transfers from the CBN  and N45m deposited by the defendant,” the witness added.

Justice Olasumbo Goodluck of FCT High Court, Maitama, Abuja, has since granted Stephen Oronsaye bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties in like sum.
