New monarch, Ogunwusi to arrive Ife tomorrow, October 27

40-year-old Ogunwusi, who currently resides in Lagos, will be received by Kingmakers and members of the Isoro cult who will carry out the coronation rites.

The new Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi of Giesi Ruling House

The newly-appointed Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, is set to officially arrive in the ancient town tomorrow, October 27, 2015.

“The Kabiyesi will officially arrive Ife tomorrow (Tuesday) and the kingmakers and members of the Isoro will take it up from there,”Adelowo Ogunleye, Secretary of the Giesi Ruling House, told Premium Times.

“Once he arrives the kingmakers and members of Isoro will begin the process of crowing him. We do not know how long it will take before that process will be concluded, but that will be left for both the kingmakers and the Kabiyesi,” he added.

Ogunwusi’s selection was announced via a statement released by Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola.

The Ooni-designate is a prince from the Ojaja Royal compound of Agbedegbede and is of the Giesi Ruling House.

He is set to replace the late Ooni, Oba Okunade Sijuwade who died on July 28 in London.
