Senate to begin probe of ex-Presidents today, September 8

The investigation will be carried out by the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Power led by Senator Abubakar Kyari.

The Nigerian Senate will, today, September 8, 2015, begin a probe of the power sector under the management of former Presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan.

The investigation will be carried out by the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Power led by Senator Abubakar Kyari.

This was disclosed by the Clerk of the Committee, Cletus Ojabo via a statement released on Monday, September 7.

The statement reads in part:

“The investigation will centre on funds appropriated for the power sector since 1999 to the point of unbundling of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria and all matters connected therewith.”

The 13-member committee was instituted on Thursday, August 13.
