Clergy urges politicians to shun violence

Kato also urged all those who contested the election to see themselves as a forum of leaders providing leadership to the people of the state.

A cleric, Evangelist Frank Kato, has urged politicians and their supporters in Kogi to shun actions capable of heating up the polity in the state.

The cleric gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja on Sunday.

‘’ The political class demands and deserves political harmony, understanding, collaboration and accord, to move the state forward.

‘’So far, we thank God because the political situation in the state after the election is peaceful, and largely harmonious, we don’t want anything that will jeopardise this positive development.’’

The evangelist urged politicians and political office holders in the state to prioritise the welfare of the people.

In a separate interview with NAN, an agriculturist in the state, Dr Tunde Arosanyin, urged the the political parties and their candidates to accept the outcome of the Nov. 1 Governorship election in the state in good faith.

According to Arosanyin, the politicians and their supporters will do the state good by eschewing violence after the announcement of the results of the election.
