The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that activities of armed bandits had become a source of concern to communities living around the forest.
Yusuf made the pledge when he took over from his predecessor, Mr Abbati Maigari, who had been promoted to the rank of DIG in charge of Logistics and Supply.
He said the measure was necessary in order to flush out criminals that were terrorising people in the area, using the forest.
He said the command would also partner with residents of Kano to get necessary information on criminals and their hideouts for necessary action.
“We are going to extend our hands of friendship to the various communities in the state so as to enhance our work”, he said.
Earlier, Maigari advised the new commissioner to focus on the activities of hoodlums in the Falgore forest.
“The major challenges you have now is the activities of kidnappers and other armed bandits at the Falgore forest axis,” he said.
He thanked the Government and people of the state as well as the Emirate Council for the support they had given him during his short stay as Commissioner of Police in the state.
