A total of N370m was reportedly donated by the T.Y. Danjuma's led Victim Support Fund towards the reconstruction of primary schools in Bama.

Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno State

The Chairman of the fund, retired Gen. T.Y. Danjuma, disclosed this in Bama at the official flagging-off of the Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of 10 Public Structures in the area.

Represented by Amb. John Gana, he said the VSF was committed to addressing the plight of victims of insurgency and other related violence in the country.

Danjuma said: “Out the N370 million donated for the project, over N70 million will be given directly to the Ministry of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Resettlement (RRR) for the cost of Labour and Transportation.

“About N295 million have been expended for procurement of the building materials such as cement, woods, doors, windows and electronic equipment, among others, to have already been handed over to the State Government.”

According to him, the VSF expended N250 million for reconstruction of 40 projects in Dikwa Local Government Area of the state in January 2016.

In his remark, the Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Kyari Ibn-Umar, called on the Borno Government, Danjuma and other philanthropic organisations to speed up work on the reconstruction of Bama local government area.

The first class traditional ruler said the reconstruction would encourage Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) return to their homes.

The Shehu commended President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerian Army, other security agencies and men of the Civilian JTF for their unrelenting efforts in degrading remnants of insurgents in the North East sub-region.
