'We're ready to help fight Avengers,' OPC leader tells Buhari

Condemning the kidnapping of the traditional ruler of Iba town in Lagos, Goriola Oseni, he said the security of Lagos State should not be taken for granted.

 

Adams who spoke in an interview with NAN on Wednesday, July 20, said that the socio-cultural group withdrew its security service after the government blacklisted it.

Condemning the kidnapping of the traditional ruler of  Iba Local Council Development Area of Lagos state, Goriola Oseni, he said the security of Lagos State should not be taken for granted.

Suspected Niger Delta militants had on Saturday, July 16, had stormed the monarch's palace, shot one of his wives and killed his guard before abducting Oseni.

“I condemn the kidnapping of a traditional ruler (Oba) and others in Lagos. I also condemn the killings in some parts of the state in recent time,” Adams aid.

“Vandals have killed a number of persons in Ikorodu area. They are involved in pipeline vandalism before now; they are involved in ritual killings.

“We, OPC, are ready to help the government in providing security if we are invited. We participated in providing security before, but the police took us as criminals.

“We do not want people to misunderstand us again; hence we resolved to provide security for only those that request for our services.

“The federal government should not take the security of Lagos state for granted. It is a state housing all ethnic groups and their investments.”

According to him, OPC has contributed immensely to security in the South-West but was never appreciated by the government and the people.

Describing the kidnapping of a monarch as an insult to Lagos and Ogun states, he called on all security agencies to step up their operations as all hands must be on deck to combat the criminal elements.
