Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has arrested a truck belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for diverting petrol in Ilorin-Kwara state.

Speaking on the incident, state controller of DPR, Mr. Phillip Salvation said “They want to create anarchy and it won’t be condoned. Diversion, be it from Oyo or Osun to Kwara State is diversion.”

Salvation also revealed that a second truck was arrested selling the diverted fuel at N150 per litre.

He also urged motorists not to patronise filling stations selling above the official pump price.

This is coming on the heels of the statement made by the Minister of State for petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu during the town hall meeting which was held in Lagos state on Monday, April 25, 2016, that over 30% of fuel supply is diverted to Cameroon and Chad.

Kachikwu also said the government will soon begin placing trackers on tankers carrying petroleum products in order to prevent diversion.
