Clerics say God is angry with food marketers

Kaduna based clerics have moved into local markets in the state calling on food stuff sellers to reduce the recent increment as a result of the hike in fuel pump price saying that God is angry with them.

The clerics, Pastor Yohanna Buru, of Christ Evangelical Intercessory FellowshipMinistry Sabon Tasha and his Muslim counterpart, Sheik Abdulrahman Mohammad Bichi, head of Alaramma sect in Kaduna, moved into Central Market, Kasuwar Barchi in Tudun Wada, Railway Market, Barnawa Market, Sabon Tasha Market and Unguwar Dosa weekly market in Kaduna North LGA, urging the food sellers to consider the suffering Nigerians are going through as a result of fuel price hike.

The clerics appeal to marketers to think of meeting God and the consequences of tripling prices of Food Commodities in the market

“Allah is watching,” head of Alaramma sect, Abdulrahman Mohammad Bichi told the marketers on Saturday, May 14, 2016.

Pastor Yohanna Buru who said the increase in the prices of food commodities at various markets has forced many Nigerians into difficulties adding that most prices of food stuff and other commodities in the market have almost triple the normal price.

“Most marketers put price of their goods and sell the way they want without any fear of the Almighty God in their heart. They are making life extremely hard for citizens that are not getting the food stuff at an affordable price,” Buru said.

“Almighty God is not really happy with the activities of Nigerian marketers on their behavior. They took every opportunity to doubled prices,” the cleric said, urging states and the Federal government to redoubled effort in providing adequate fertilizers for this year farming season which according to him, will support farmers in producing large quantity of food crop.

They called for re-introduction of price-control-system in the Nigerian market which according to them will reduce the menace of cheating and extortion by some marketers.

As the month of Ramadan approaches, the clerics called on marketers to immediately cut-down prices of all goods to enable citizens buy food stuff and fruits at affordable prices to help Muslims observing fasting.
