Agency arrests man for defrauding Afromedia of over N700m

Punch Newspapers reports that he collected huge sums of money from Afromedia, purportedly for business travels and meetings with potential investors in the United Kingdom.

 

Reports say the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested Alhaji Mohammed Gobir, for allegedly defrauding outdoor advertising company, Afromedia, over N700m.

Gobir, was chairman of the Business Development Committee, of the board of directors.

The scam dates as far back as 2008 when Gobir, who was introduced as a potential investor, by Synergy Capital Advisory Limited, allegedly used his influence to defraud the advertising company.

Punch Newspapers reports that he collected huge sums of money from Afromedia, purportedly for business travels and meetings with potential investors in the United Kingdom.

The report also said that the suspect collected $3,500,000, N514,457,151.87, $2,102,740 and 51,000 Pounds on different occasions.

The arrest was confirmed EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren.
