Boko Haram terrorists have launched an attack in Northern Cameroon leaving many dead, residents say.

The attack occurred on Wednesday, February 4, and the insurgents slit the throats of civilians and burnt the central mosque in the border town of Fotokol, AFP reports.

“They burnt houses and killed civilians as well as soldiers,” a source close to security forces told AFP.

Reports of the attack were also confirmed by Cameroonian journalist, Chief Bisong Etahoben via Twitter.

He said:

Cameroon has suffered many attacks from the sect largely due to its shared border with Nigeria and recently 123 of the terrorists were killed in Cameroon by Chadian soldiers.
