Chibok parents travel to Dapchi for sympathy visit

The visit is an attempt to strengthen the faith and raise the hopes of Dapchi parents.

The Chibok parents will be in Dapchi on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, to sympathise with the parents of the recently abducted girls as the search for them continues.

According to Yana Galang, the Women Leader of the Abducted Chibok Girls Parents' Movement for Rescue, 30 Chibok parents will make the trip.

She said, "Our chairman has already communicated to the Chairman of the abducted Dapchi girls' parents and chairman of the Bursari Local Government Council, notifying them of our sympathy visit to Dapchi town on 13th March."

According to her, the Chibok parents, whose children have not yet returned from captivity, would meet the Dapchi parents to listen and talk to one another about managing situations as traumatized parents.

The group's chairman, Yakubu Nkeki, said the meeting is an attempt to strengthen the faith and raise the hopes of Dapchi parents.

Attack on all-girls school

Boko Haram militants invaded Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School in Dapchi, Bursari local government area of Yobe on Monday, February 19, 2018, and abducted 110 schoolgirls.

According to accounts by residents, the terrorists invaded the town around 7 pm in over 18 gun trucks mounted with high caliber weapons.

The abduction was a repeat of another Boko Haram attack that happened when militants invaded Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok and kidnapped 276 female students in April 2014.

After several escapes and releases, 112 of the girls remain in captivity of the deadly terrorist group.
