'Buhari won't interfere with EFCC, ICPC probes' - Group says

Labbo said the anti-graft agencies in the country now living up to expectation, more than ever.

The Buhari Media Support Group (BMSG) has said President Muhammadu Buhari would not interfere with the operations of anti-corruption agencies (EFCC, ICPC, DSS).

The group's National Coordinator, Muhammad Labbo, stated this at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, October 27; while also cautioning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop overheating the polity in the name of opposition politics

Labbo said the anti-graft agencies in the country are now living up to expectation, more than ever - contrary to PDP's statements.

He added that the group, made up of veteran journalists, is aware of what it means to have correct information and to be misinformed.

He said, “So, when there is a need for us to intervene in educating Nigerians, we will do that for the sake of our country.“The anti corruption agencies in this country are now living up to expectations. The President is not interfering in what they are doing. Let us get it correctly; the President has affirmed that he will uphold the rule of law, whatever is what doing must be done correctly.

“This is a President that is committed to the rule of law and he has said it that he is not going to interfere. So, please stop bringing the President into whoever is being charged by the anti corruption agencies.

“The era of impunity of interference in this country is over. This is an administration that is bound by the philosophy of rule of law and that is what he is doing.”

Labbo further stated that the PDP should quit the habit of blaming the president everytime, but rather direct its grievances to the appropriate agencies.

He added, “We have observed that some elements in the opposing PDP have continued to espouse uninformed positions on the state of the Nigerian economy under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We join our voice to the call by the President for a return of community policing in the affected states. In appreciation of our military, we call on Nigerians to actively support members of our armed forces still battling Boko Haram in the North-East.

“We equally applaud Mr. President for staying true to his commitment to battle corruption in all its ramifications, and within the ambit of the law.”
