Denial statement was issued by friends – IBB says

The former President also urged President Buhari not to run for re-election in 2019.

Afterwards, another statement surfaced saying that IBB, as he is fondly called, did not ask issue any statement asking Buhari to step-down.

According to ThisDay, the former President’s son appended his name on the second statement which was sent out, without him knowing, to douse the tension which the first statement caused.

Babangida said that he stands by the first statement which was issued by his media aide, Kassim Afegbua.

The former President also said that the media mis-represented his statement adding that he did not ask Buhari not to contest in 2019.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjohad earlier written an open letter, criticising President Buhari.

OBJ, in the letter, also chided the President for doing nothing about the Fulani herdsmen crisis.
