Arase deploys additional Police Mobile Force units

The statement reaffirmed the readiness of the police to work with the state government to fish out and prosecute all those involved in the killings.

The police are currently investigating the matter

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, has deployed additional Police Mobile Force ( PMF) units to troubled areas in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue, a statement has said.

The statement, issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Olabisi Kolawole in Abuja on Thursday, said Arase took the step after an assessment visit of the area.

Agatu has witnessed numerous killings from attacks on villages in the area by herdsmen.

The statement said that the deployment was aimed at reinforcing the unit already on ground in the affected communities.

It also warned that those involved in the killing of two policemen in the area would face the full wrath of the law.

It reassured Nigerians that the security agencies would do everything possible to further strengthen security within and beyond the state.
