HBO has released a new trailer for its upcoming series "Westworld."

The upcoming 10-episode drama series is described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin.

Viewers have also described it as a replacement for "Game of Thrones," which is set to end in 2018.

Directed by Michael Crichton, the seriesis produced by Bad Robot Productions, Jerry Weintraub Productions, and Kilter Films in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the one-hour drama is based on the 1973 film of the same name, which was written and directed by American novelist Michael Crichton.

Executive produced by  J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk, "Westworld" is scheduled to premiere October 2016.
