Movie tops US box office

Musical comedy 'Pitch Perfect' took over 'Mad Max: Fury' to top the US box office.

'Pitch Perfect 2' made a $70.3m (£44.7m) debut at the US box office, zooming past 'Mad Max: Fury Road', which racked in  $44.4m.

The 'Pitch Perfect' sequel brought in more in its first weekend than the $65m which its prequel racked in through out its stay in the cinemas.

Directed by actress Elizabeth Banks, the movie stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson among others.

'Pitch Perfect 2' features the Barden Bellas enter an international a cappella competition which no American team has ever won.
