Love doesn't play by the rules in Bridgerton season 2 trailer

Dearest reader, the second season for Shonda rhimes’ regency themed drama Bridgerton will centre on the Viscount, as he is caught in a love triangle between two sisters.

Bridgerton

Duty or love, Lord Bridgerton must decide. Bowing to pressure from his mother to seek a wife in a new social season, the viscount is matched with the beautiful Edwina Sharma played by Charithra Chandran. However, before Anthony wins her hands in marriage, he must win the favour of her elder sister Kate Sharma(Simone Ashley). During Anthony and Kate's time together in games, strolls, and private meetings, in an interesting twist, sparks fly between them which inevitably results in another scandal Lady Whistledown who was revealed to be Penelope Featherington at season one finale is desperate to uncover.

Based on the book series written by Julia Quinn; ‘The Viscount who loved me’, the second season aims to take a deeper dive into Anthony as he navigates an unforeseen love triangle that sees him make a decision significant to his ongoing character arc. "After your father died, a wall went up inside you as if love had become some weakness instead of your greatest strength," Mrs Bridgerton says of her son in a scene that appears to be a rare mother-son moment between both characters.

Asides from the viscount, the trailer for the second season hints at the continuation of Penelope's rocky storyline with Colin Bridgerton. As well as a potential love interest for the witty and rebellious Eloise. Phoebe Dynevor is set to reprise her role as Daphne Bridgerton. But the ladies' favourite, Regé-Jean Page who flawlessly played the Duke Simon Basset announced his early exit from the show due to personal reasons. Although with the released trailer, it seems the duke's absence will have minimal effect as Bridgerton is set to return as colourful and steamier than ever.

The series also stars Adjoa Andoh, Lorraine Ashbourne, Harriet Cains, Bessie Carter, Shelley Conn, Nicola Coughlan, Phoebe Dynevor, Ruth Gemmell, Florence Hunt, Martins Imhangbe, Claudia Jessie, Calam Lynch, Luke Newton, Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Thompson, Will Tilston, Polly Walker and Rupert Young.
