In a post shared on Linda Ikeji's blog, the Director-General of National Council for Arts and Culture, Segun Runsewe while playing host to the president of the National Council of Women Societies, Dr Gloria Shoda and her team said they have lodged a complaint to the NBC.
According to him, what is going on at the Big Brother Naija house is terrible especially with the love affairs scenes. He went to say he had taken up the issue with the National Broadcasting Commission.
"We are going to represent that bill You can’t fight a battle without a legal framework; we are definitely going to be conscious of that. I will take up the issue of Big Brother Naija; I have spoken with officials of the National Broadcasting Commission because what is going on now is terrible. Having love affairs on live TV is not part of our own culture at all.
“Let me use this forum to tell Nigerians that a new Big Brother Naija is on its way coming and we are working with Startimes. We are doing BBN that will reflect the true Nigerian culture. We are already working on it, all that will be eaten there will be Nigerian food, the dresses will be Nigerian dresses" he said.
The federal government's decision to complain to the NBC over the reality show, BBNaija may be connected to the UK based newspaper's article that was released about a week ago. It had claimed that Khafi and Gedoni were having sex in the Big Brother Naija house.
BBNaija 2019: Khafi in trouble with UK Police for participating in TV reality show
According to a special report by The Sun Newspaper, Khafi’s participation in the BBNaija was not supported by the force, granted her unpaid leave when she requested to go on the reality TV show.
It was also reported that 29-year-old Khafi’s romance with Gedoni has seen her facing an investigation by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
Referred to as the UK Metropolitan police poster girl, Khafi became popular in the force for promoting female and black recruitment. In November 2018, she stood alongside Metropolitan Commissioner, Cressida Dick to promote female and black recruitment.
