One of South Africas leading newspapers admitted Sunday it had run "tainted" scoops during the presidency of Jacob Zuma which turned out to be largely false, but insisted it had been the victim of political manipulation.
"We admit here today that something went wrong in the process of gathering the information and reporting" of several top stories, Sunday Times editor Bongani Siqoko wrote in a column.
