'We won't give room for loopholes' - Senate President says

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has assured that the eight senate will not give room for loopholes in the implementation of government plans and projects.

Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, June 18, while receiving the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, Saraki promised that the National Assembly will ensure legislation that will sustain an investment friendly atmosphere with a view to bringing Nigeria out of the current economic challenges.

“With the much abundant resources embedded in the nation, we are confident of the fact that we will meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians from all facets of life,” he said.

Saraki assured that the oversight functions of the National Assembly will be strengthened “in such a way that there will be no room for loopholes in implementing government plans and projects.

“We will put in place comprehensive systems to make of our revenues meet our needs. Our oversight functions would be strengthened in such a way that there will be no room for loopholes in implementing government plans and projects.”

While highlighting the challenges militating against Nigeria’s progress - epileptic power supply, insecurity, unemployment , revenue leakages; Saraki asserted that the Buhari administration will steer the country on the right path.

“This 8th Senate have the mandate to give to Nigerians the dividends of democracy,” he affirmed.
