Gov. Wada laments as Audu hails polls

Sadly, the incumbent Governor, Idris Wada, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, is not happy with the process.

Hours after the election exercise in Kogi State on Saturday, November 21, 2015, top contenders of the gubernatorial race are singing different tunes.

While complaints of malfunctioned card readers trailed the state election, the process was publicly adjudged peaceful by stakeholders in many areas of the state.

Though he acknowledged the great turnout of voters, Wada lamented the malfunctioning of card readers while stressing that the alleged presence of fake security operatives were worrisome, making the process appear to him as not very free and fair.

According to a report by Sunday Punch, Wada was visibly upset at his polling unit as he lamented on a deliberate attempt by the INEC officials to slow down the process as he casted his vote at about 3:45pm on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, ex-governor,

Hailing the electioneering process, Audu expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election as he casted his vote at unit 010, Ogbonicha in Ofu local Government Area of the state.

However, Audu noted that apart from some cases of destruction of electoral materials in Eti-Aja and Ojetachi streets in Ayangba, the election was relatively peaceful.

Other major contenders in the election, in which 22 political parties and their candidates contested, included the candidate of the Labour Party, Dr. Phillip Salawu, who is a former deputy governor of the state, and the candidate of the Progressives Peoples Alliance, Mr. Enesi Ozigi.
