APC is broke - Party Chairman says

He also lamented the current state of the nation,, saying the President inherited a totally collapsed economy.

John Odigie Oyegun

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Oyegun, has said that the party is broke and does not plan to involve President Muhammadu Buhari, saying it is not part of his national assignment.

He stated this during an interactive session with journalists at the APC headquarters in Abuja.

“We are working to raise resources within the membership. We have not asked for rescue from the president because it is not part of his national assignment”, he said.

"What we are doing is to clear the debris. There will be plenty of good news in the next few months. We have to put up with the present deprivation. But we will smile tomorrow”, Oyegun said.

While defending Buhari's anti-corruption campaign, he said the fight is not selective, adding that the probing of the immediate past PDP administration was necessary because the former ruling party held Nigeria down for 16 years.

“We are investigating yesterday. Let tomorrow investigate us,” he said.
