APC threatens to sue PDP spokesperson over false claims

Fani-Kayode had earlier accused APC Vice-Presidential candidate, Yemi Osinbajo of swearing an oath to hand over power to party leader, Bola Tinubu after Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari had become incapacitated.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has threatened to sue the spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign organization, Femi Fani-Kayode over recent allegations made concerning its leaders.

Fani-Kayode had earlier accused APC Vice-Presidential candidate, Yemi Osinbajo of swearing an oath to hand over power to party leader, Bola Tinubu after Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari had become incapacitated.

The APC demanded that Fani-Kayode retract the claim or produce evidence to support it to avoid litigation.

This was contained in a statement released by the spokesperson for the APC campaign organization, Garba Shehu.

The statement reads:

“For the PDP, through Fani-Kayode, to state publicly that an erudite Professor of Law, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a reputable Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, swore an oath to vacate his seat as the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, should the party win the forthcoming election is an attack on the hard-won integrity and the reputations of these great Nigerians and APC stalwarts.”

“We view this as both slanderous and libellous and therefore will not leave the matter to chance. To this effect, we hereby give Femi Fani-Kayode and the PDP 72 hours to produce evidence or in the alternative issue public apology to Pastor Yemi Osinbajo, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and our party the APC or be prepared to be charged to the court of law.”

Fani-Kayode had claimed that Tinubu didn’t expect Buhari to last in office due to a myriad of health problems and that the APC leader was just waiting to assume power through the back door.
