12 reportedly killed in supplementary polls

There are allegations that among the reportedly killed persons are four men of the Nigerian police, two men of the Nigerian Army and six suspected militants.

 

The supplementary polls which held in Bayelsa State on Saturday, January 9, 2015 have reportedly left 12 people dead.

According to a report by Punch Newspaper, a total of 12 people in different local government areas of Bayelsa lost their lives during the election.

While details of the reported deaths are yet to be confirmed by various security agencies, the Bayelsa supplementary polls, which kicked off on a high note is reported to have been marred with series of violence and malpractices.

Others reportedly include two people, who were hit by stray bullets in the Ogoibiri area of Southern Ijaw LGA.

Results of the supplementary elections are yet to be announced but early results published by Punch Newspaper showed that in Yenegoa, PDP recorded 839 votes while APC had 448; in Brass, PDP had 5 votes while APC ruled with 1,679 votes.

In Sagbama, PDP recorded 180 as to 119 votes accrued to APC while Ogbia saw PDP getting 1290 votes as APC managed 139 votes.
